The Lamp and Endtable by design represent generic Americana. Not as an object, rather the symbol of a person, specifically, an American. The emphasis addresses environmental concerns, the consequences that result from thoughtless human behavior. The lamp was a discard from a real-live cowboy. I dreamt about it, sketched the images, and began the project in 2003. The work focuses on westward movement. It involves concepts inherent to: Manifest Destiny, How the West was Won, and the Last Frontier.
